Background
The Nucor Steel Hertford plant began operating in 2000, producing plate for products ranging from railroad tank cars to armored personnel carriers.[1] The plant cost around $300 million to build.[2] In 2012, the plant recycled 1.45 million metric tonnes of scrap metal.[3]
