Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa plant, also known as Corus Tuscaloosa (predecessor), Tuscaloosa Steel Corp. (predecessor), is an electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plant operating in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States.
Location
The map below shows the exact location of the plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States:
- Location: 1700 Holt Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35404, United States

Background
Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa, previously owned by Corus Steel — and before that, Tuscaloosa Steel Corp. — began operating in 1985. The plant was acquired by Nucor Steel when the company bought Corus Steel for $90 million in 2004.[1] The facility produces steel coil, discrete plate and cut-to-length plate products.[2]
In 2013, the Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa plant recycled close to 19.1 million tons of scrap steel to create new products. In addition, the plant recycles cars.[1]
In 2019, the plant underwent an upgrade to modernize its heavy plate mill.[3]
