Orissa Steel & Power Jhargram Steel Plant, also known as Rashmi Udyog Pvt Ltd, is a direct reduced iron-electric arc furnace (DRI-EAF) announced steel plant in Jhargram, West Bengal, India.

Background

M/s Orissa Steel & Power Private Limited (Formerly known as M/s Rashmi Udyog Private Limited) a wholly own subsidiary of M/s Rashmi Cement Limited is originally incorporated under Company Act on 16th October, 2019 with the name of M/s Rashmi Udyog Private Limited and later on company name is change to M/s Orissa Steel & Power Private Limited on 17th November, 2020. The project was originally accorded environmental clearance on 22nd June, 2015. The same EC was subsequently transferred from M/s Rashmi Iron Industries Pvt Limited to M/s Rashmi Udyog Private Limited (a wholly own subsidiary of M/s Rashmi Cement Limited). The name of company was changed to Orissa Steel & Power Pvt. Ltd. The company has proposed to expand its existing pellet plant while also setting up new sponge iron plant and steel melting shop.[1] The executive summary of the proposal to expand the capacities were submitted in September 2021.[2] As of December 2024, there has been no updates in the project.
