Background

As part of its strategy to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050, POSCO announced a DRI unit in the Boodarie Strategic Industrial Area of West Australia. The feasibility study for the project was conducted in 2022.[1] As of October 2023, ENGIE and POSCO Holdings agreed to undertake a pre-feasibility study for a green hydrogen initiative in Western Australia. The green hydrogen initiative is expected to facilitate the proposed hot briquetted iron facility in Port Hedland, WA.[2]

Low-emissions/green steelmaking
