Peter Batchelor is the Minister for Energy and Resources and the Arts in the Victorian Labor government. He is also the Manager of Government Business in the Legislative Assembly and the Member for the Thomastown electorate.[1]
Background
A biographical note states that Batchelor was "born on 21 September 1950 in Sydney, Peter has been the member for the Thomastown electorate since 1990 ... Prior to being elected to Parliament, he was State Secretary of the Victorian Branch of the Labor Party from 1983 - 1990 and was also as an official at the Furnishing Trades Union from 1972-82. Peter has held a number of Ministerial portfolios including Major Projects and Minister for Transport (including Public Transport, Roads and Ports)."[1]
