Background

QazSpecSteel Aktobe steel plant or QazSpetsSteel steel plant[1] should not be confused with Aktobe Generatsiya steel plant, both planned near the city of Aktobe.[2]

There are concerns over the increased demand for water stemming from new steel plants, posing a risk of water stress and scarcity.[3] The article is focused on Aktobe Generatsiya steel plant, yet may also relevant to the QazSpetsSteel steel plant.

The construction was expected to begin in 2023.[4] The project was mentioned several times in the media in 2023-2024 without any further updates.[5][6]
