Background

QazSpecSteel Aktobe steel plant or QazSpetsSteel steel plant should not be confused with Aktobe Generatsiya steel plant, both planned near the city of Aktobe.

There are concerns over the increased demand for water stemming from new steel plants, posing a risk of water stress and scarcity. The article is focused on Aktobe Generatsiya steel plant, yet may also relevant to the QazSpetsSteel steel plant.

The construction was expected to begin in 2023. The project was mentioned several times in the media in 2023-2024 without any further updates.
