Background
On June 7, 2023, the Henan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology issued a public announcement regarding the capacity replacement plan for the "Green and Intelligent Factory Project" initiated by Angang Yongxing Special Steel Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shagang Group. Under this plan, Angang Yongxing Special Steel will acquire 1.4 million tons of ironmaking capacity from two steel enterprises in the Anyang region, combine it with its own 2.4 million tons of ironmaking capacity, and use a 1.5:1 ratio to replace the capacity for the construction of two new 1410m³ blast furnaces.[1]
On September 4 2024, the first carbon brick for the No. 1- 1410m³ blast furnace of the Shagang Yongxing Green and Intelligent Factory Project, constructed by Shanghai No. 20 Metallurgical Company, was successfully placed. This milestone marks the official commencement of refractory installation for Shagang’s No. 1- 1410 m³blast furnace.[2]
