Background

On March 4, 2024, the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology announced the Capacity Swap Plan for Shougang Qian'an Iron and Steel's Near-Zero Carbon Emission High-Quality Steel Project. According to the announcement, Shougang Qian'an Iron and Steel plans to build a new 160-ton EAF while retiring a 210-ton BOF.[1]
