Background

Shyam Metalics and power Limited was incorporated in 1991.[1] The Sambalpur Steel plant began commercial production in 2006.[2] The Plant had a capacity of 792 ttpa sponge iron and 401.28 ttpa billet as of 31 December 2020, and is expanding capacity by 561 ttpa sponge iron, and 461.2 ttpa billet production by 2025.[3][4][5]

In April 2024, a new stainless steel hot rolled coils (HRC) facility was established at the existing plant.[6]In May 2024, the company completed expansion of its rail infrastructure at the plant.[7]
