State Company for Iron & Steel Basra plant (الشركة العامة لصناعة الحديد والصلب (Arabic)), also known as SCIS; United Brothers Holding, is an electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plant under construction in Khor Al-Zubair, Basra, Iraq.

Background

The State Company for Iron and Steel Basra plant was originally established in 1971 by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals. Due to war in the region, steel production has stopped and the plant is currently under rehabilitation.[1] As of May 2022, the company announced that 90% of the rehabilitation took place.[2] According to a news source, in 2023 a number of employees were arrested due to forging financial documents.[3]
