Uzmetkombinat steel plant (Узбекский металлургический комбинат (Russian)), also known as Uzbekistan Metallurgical Plant; Uzbek Metallurgical Plant Uzmetkombinat, is an electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plant operating in Bekobod, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Background
OHF units were retired in 2014.[1]
The plant was expected to increase steel production to 2300 TTPA, due to the construction of a new steelmaking workshop.[2][3] As of October 2024, there have not been any updates about the project. The project was removed from the Uzmetkombinat 2024 Business Plan and is assumed to be mothballed.
Uzmetkombinat is building a new casting and rolling complex with an electric arc furnace manufacturered by Danieli.[4][5] As of April 2024, equipment installation was 58% complete, and construction and assembly work was 70% complete.[6] The project is planned to be fully commissioned in 2025-2026.[7]
Expected steel production in 2024 is 664,000 tons. In 2023, the plant's net profit decreased by 25% compared to 2022, and the number of employees by 2,000. Uzmetkombinat was building a 50 MW photovoltaic station at the EAF workshop.[4] Once the project is complete, the share of RES in the plant's total energy consumption will increase to 25%.[3] The construction was expected to end in Q1 2024.[4]
