Background
The project is proposed by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation to be sited in Vadarevu village.[1]
The project will be developed in three stages: Stage I 2013-14, Stage II 2014-15, and Stage III 2015-16.[1]
Stage I of the project consists of two 800 MW units. APGENCO has received approval from the government of Andhra Pradesh. The utility states that Power Finance Corporation "has agreed in principle to provide loan for Stage-I." [2]
In a February 2016 interview in the Deccan Chronicle, APGENCO Managing Director K Vijayanand said that the project was still being pursued, with completion targeted for 2021-2022.[3]
However, as of December 2018 an environmental clearance permit has not been obtained, and the project appears to be abandoned or deferred.
