Wuhu Fuxin Iron and Steel Co Ltd (芜湖市富鑫钢铁有限公司) is a blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) steel plant operating in Wuhu, Anhui, China.

Background
On February 9, 2021, a technician died during equipment repair.[1] On July 18, 2022, the Wuhu Ecological Environment Bureau has ordered Wuhu Fuxin Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. to rectify its illegal acts.[2]
In March 2021, the company occupied collective land in Xindong Village, Xingang Town, without proper authorization, to construct an environmental protection shed (with a construction area of 637 square meters, which is now completed and in use). As a result, the Natural Resources and Planning Sub-bureau of Fanchang District imposed a fine of 5733 yuan (9 yuan per square meter × 637 square meters) on the company.[3]
In 2021, the State Council’s Work Safety Committee conducted its first inspection after the implementation of the newly revised Work Safety Law. The eighth inspection team focused on the safety issues at Fuxin Steel, uncovering multiple hazards, including the absence of a fixed carbon monoxide detection alarm at the blast furnace, outdated and improperly operated gas drainage equipment, and safety risks in the steelmaking plant’s ladle transport areas. The inspection also revealed deficiencies in the company's safety management system, with the general manager residing abroad and absent from duties, and the lack of a chief engineer despite assigned responsibilities, highlighting significant gaps in safety oversight.[4]
