YK Steel Dangjin plant (YK스틸 (Korean)), also known as Kukdong Steel Industry (predecessor), Kumho Industry (predecessor), Hanbo Iron & Steel (predecessor); Daehan Steel, is an electric arc furnace (EAF) announced steel plant in Dangjin, South Chungcheong, South Korea.

- Coordinates (WGS 84): 36.918106, 126.643606 (approximate)
Background
In 2020, Daehan Steel acquired the steel manufacturing facilities and sales business, while the Yamato Kogyo Group maintains ownership of the land of the Busan plant.[1][2] Daehan Steel acquired 51% stake in YK Steel Corp by September 2020[3] and increased its stake to 70% by August 2021.[4] Given the development of the Busan plant's vicinity to a residential area, there were plans to relocate the Busan plant. In January 2022, an agreement was signed between the company and German engineering firm SMS group for development of Dangjin plant with new equipment provided by SMS group.[2][1] Reports suggest that the company has decided against relocating the Busan plant and has decided to build a completely new plant at the Dangjin site.[5][6]
YK Steel plans to establish a 100% scrap-based steel plant in Dangjin, the equipment for the same is to be provided by SMS Group.[7] The plant is expected to become operational in 2025 with a capacity of 1000 ttpa.[2][7]
