Background

The LNG hub has been mentioned in reporting as a likely area of concentration, along with BirAllah LNG Hub, once BP finished the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim FLNG Terminal project.

In November 2023, BP left the project as it chose to prioritize its offshore activities and the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim FLNG Terminal project. Kosmos Energy assumed majority ownership, increasing its stake from 30% to 90%, and will be the operator of the project. Petrosen holds the remaining shares. Phase 1 of the Yakkar-Teranga project was reportedly in the feasibility stage, with gas production expected to start in 2024.[4]
