İzdemir Enerji is a power generation subsidiary of İDÇ Steel a privately owned Turkish steel company with interests in power generation.

Background

The website of İDC states that İzdemir Enerji "was established in 2007 to contribute in the increasing power demand of Turkey. The contract for construction of 1x350 MWe supercritical coal fired power plant was signed in April 2011. Power plant will be located within the 103.000m2 land inside the İDÇ factory area. Imported coal is going to be used in power plant and the yearly consumption is about 895.000 t. Power plant commissioning is scheduled in May 2014 and yearly net electricity production is 2.562.000.000 kWh. İzdemir Enerji Power Plant, which will be the first any only supercritical power plant in 350MW capacity in Turkey, is going to both produce the energy which Turkey needs and contribute the local economy."[1]
