Project details

Background

Kuibyshev-Lysychansk Oil Pipeline has been the main pipeline to export oil through Novorossiysk port.[9][10]

According to Ukrainian sources, the pipeline has been inactive since 2012 and later frozen in 2014 in Ukraine.[11][12][13] The Ukrainian segment of the pipeline seems to be 163 km long.[13]

As of 2021, according to Russian sources, the pipeline has been operational.[7][6] The pipeline appears to be partially operational in Russia and not operational in the Ukrainian segment.

Lysychansk was the last Ukrainian stronghold in the Luhansk Oblast not under Russian control until the Battle of Lysychansk.[14][15] Lysychansk oil refinery was shelled and damaged in May 2022.[16]

As of February 2024, reports in the Russian media indicate that the pipeline is operational along its entire length.[8][5]
