Background
The Sheskharis transshipment complex is part of Chernomortransneft JSC, a subsidiary of Transneft PJSC. Located in the city of Novorossiysk, it serves as the terminal point for Transneft's main oil pipelines in the Krasnodar Territory, facilitating the transportation of oil from fields in Western Siberia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. For transshipment through the Port of Novorossiysk, oil is accumulated at the Sheskharis and Grushovaya sites, with the Grushovaya site bearing the main load due to its larger storage capacity for oil and petroleum products. The two industrial sites, Grushovaya and Sheskharis, are located 12 km apart. Hydrocarbon raw materials are delivered to the storage tanks of the industrial sites via the Tikhoretsk–Novorossiysk 2, Tikhoretsk–Novorossiysk 3, and Krymsk–Grushovaya main oil pipeline systems. Additionally, petroleum products are received through the Tikhoretsk–Novorossiysk-1 main pipeline and from rail tank cars arriving at the Grushovaya site by rail.[8]
The Tikhoretsk-Novorossiysk 1 Oil Pipeline was converted to transport diesel oil in 2018.[4][5]
Construction of the Tikhoretsk-Novorossiysk 3 Oil Pipeline included connecting the existing loops of the Tikhoretsk–Novorossiysk 2 Oil Pipeline into a single line, running from the Tikhoretsk transshipment oil terminal to the Grushovaya site of the Sheskharis transshipment complex. For this purpose, new sections of the pipeline with a diameter of 700 mm and a total length of 89.6 km were constructed.[10] According to the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation "On the Approval of the Territorial Planning Scheme of the Russian Federation in the Field of Federal Transport (Pipeline Transport Section)" (as amended on August 23, 20234), the capacity of the pipeline will be expanded to 23 mtpa.[14]
The Tikhoretsk-Novorossiysk 4 Oil Pipeline is currently under construction.[17] It will connect to the Tikhoretsk-Novorossiysk 3 Oil Pipeline at the segment "Linear Production and Dispatch Station Krymskaya - Grushovaya Industrial Park".[14]
