SSAB Oxelösund steel plant is a blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) steel plant operating in Oxelösund, Södermanland, Sweden.
Location
The map below shows the exact location of the plant in Oxelösund, Södermanland, Sweden:
- Location: SE-613 80 Oxelösund, Sweden
- Coordinates (WGS 84): 58.670789, 17.127786 (exact)
Background
SSAB aims to convert the SSAB Oxelösund steel plant blast furnace (BF) to a 100% renewables-based hydrogen direct reduced iron (H-DRI) and electric arc furnace (EAF) facility by 2025.[1] SSAB plans to bring fossil-free steel to the steel market by 2026 through operations at the SSAB Oxelösund steel plant.[1]
Low-emissions/green steelmaking
This steel plant is associated with a green steel project tracked in the Green Steel Tracker. Details about the project are included below.
