Werne-Gernsheim Gas Pipeline is an existing natural gas pipeline, running from Werne to Gernsheim, Germany.
Location
The pipeline runs from Werne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, to Gernsheim, Hessen, Germany. At Werne it connects with the Wardenburg-Werne Gas Pipeline and the Werne-Schlüchtern-Rimpar Gas Pipeline; at Paffrath (a district of Bergisch Gladbach) it connects with the METG Pipeline; it then runs alongside the METG pipeline to Gernsheim, where it connects with the MEGAL Gas Pipeline.[1]
Background
The Werne-Paffrath-Gernsheim Gas Pipeline was originally built by Ruhrgas AG, which was then taken over by E.ON, and then spun off into Open Grid Europe (OGE).[2]
